4: 19 That's actually not parallel action, and not why Fireman was so revolutionary. What happens is that we cut back and forth between the firemen racing through the streets and the woman alone in the burning room. People understood that this is happening at the same time, we jump between the problem and the hopeful solution, and viewers got really fired up about that. And -that- is parallel action.

Like Scorsese said, a film is about what's in the frame and what's NOT in the frame. This video showcased you can hide horses and use the camera to tell a story piece by piece to create suspense towards the audience. Or you can shock the audience by hiding a gun and have the actor -shoot- the audience. Very informative video

Thanks for this Film History episodes! I am currently writing assingment for design and media theory and this helps alot! i mean i use other literature to but it frames the history of film so well that i know exactly what to search for and whats really important to mention.

they could have also recorded actors reading said scripts, and playing them on the phonograph at the screening. giving the illusion of actual audio coming from the film. but they didn't thought of that cause they were idiots.

To be honest, it's kind of hard to see the action in the Great Train Robbery as happening simultaneously from the clips shown. They look more sequential than happening in parallel.

I finally learn the purpose and when to use camera movements, it was so -you use it because you want to- and so much because it was necessary for the story for me

I was actually taught that Edwin s porter shot the two POVs without including parallel editing, someone else found the film and decided to edit it that way

This makes me feel so appreciative of movies. You don't realize how much work/effort something takes until you learn the history.

I would like for, just once, someone to reference movies based on comics and list something other than a Marvel or DC movie.
