Mat s flown over to the American West Coast, and he s attending a Cars & Coffee meet-up! There are absolutely loads of supercars at this event, with pretty much every supercar brand making an appearance of some description - Porsche, Lambo, McLaren, Ferrari and even Bugatti They re all there! The question is, how exactly do the owners afford to buy these incredibly expensive cars? Well, Mat s about to find out! He s going to speak to a whole host of car owners at the event to find out what they do for work to be able to afford these incredible machines. But not only that, he s going to put them to the test to find out how much they really know about their car! The question is, will he find a car worth more than the most expensive car he s ever drag raced, a Koenigsegg Agera RS! You ll need to keep watching to see for yourself!

I love that you got a very diverse group of answers. It goes to show that if you are passionate about what you do and find a way to market it, you can make a lot of funny in that field. No it won't happen over night 99% of the time, but with time, dedication and consistency you can get there. I'm a senior mechanical engineer for a company in Silicon Valley and was able to purchase my 2012 Ferrari 458 last December because of what I do. I have been in industry for 16 years now, but was able to make my dream a reality.

Amazing video - what an atmosphere. Amazing that everyone's extremely polite and no one told Matt to go. back to UK - except the health company dude. Also - how many of these cars were manuals? The Jaaaaaaaaag of course, the NSX, maybe the 911 RS, and maybe the rare Aston. And that guy in a new Civic Type S. where is that guy? He must be there - travelled across country - because he drives a Honda: D Except no one interviewed him - because. yeah. Anyway. Absolutely awesome video - greetings from Latvia.

Who still believes that a normal daily job can pay such priced cars? come on let's be honest.
These guys, are most of them, from rich families already. even in America there's no miracles. maybe someone that becomes a successful doctor or a very competent engineer of a big enterprise might have money from their work to buy one of these supercars. but those are exceptions. Most of the people have normal regular cars.

Wow. Do you know what I learned here? That the majority of the people who drive these cars don t know shit about them, even if they own a shop they don t know anything about the car their driving which means all the wrench monkeys who deserve it aren t there because they don t have one. Probably because they are making them all the money. And secondly, be a software engineer or own a company that deals with these cars.

Matt should ask the owners do you ever track your car? Or have you ever extracted the true performance from your car? How many miles do you put on your car annually? How long will you keep it?
For most of these owners the vehicle is a status symbol and nothing more. Nothing wrong with that as you cannot take it with you.
Mayonnaise King that is a man who recognizes an opportunity!

Some people have all the money in the world to buy these cars, but don t know the stats and specs of them. How can you have such a great job and be so smart at what you do, but you don t even know what s under the hood of the car you re driving?
Just goes to show that money can t buy knowledge or skills lol

MAN. Jame's accent is confusing. It's an american/australian mix, i think. I'm Aussie and some of the words have that classic Australian inflection/twang. Sort of like a kid thats grown up in the states but with aussie parents. Mind breaking to listen to.

Awesome video! Very surprising how many of these folks don t know technical stats about their cars though. Just folks spending money but not necessarily car people buying these super/hyper cars.

Those guys with the modified F8 body kits are completely delusional about their cars value. No one is paying over 700k for those. Good luck with that.

7: 48. Everytime i hear people say im in insurance sales is about the equivalent of a rat wanting the cheese without the trap. Very dishonest life choice.

Cool video Mr. Watson. Hey, since you re in the states, why don t you swing up to Wyoming and say hi. We got a car show going on here this weekend.

the message was clear working hard in a regular (non skilled) 9-5 job job can t afford that life of luxury, but surviving to get the basics.

Notice how most of supercar drivers have a business. Your job will put you in a diesel German car but beyond that it s business ownership

Software engineer with Lamborghini? As a mid-software engineer I'm struggling to buy a used Corolla. I guess I have to become senior.

I notice Matt doesn't ask for Torque. I guess he didn't have his foot pounds to Newton Meters calculator. This was a fun watch!
reply

matt just look for expensive cars, but here in america is about the build and moah powa baby, next time show us something unique
reply

It's the best topic to talk about. You ask yourself how do this guys work hard to buy this? As a disabled person I'm speechless.
reply

Uniquely interesting. We get to see nice cars, find out their cost and how their owners can afford them. Quite inspiring!
reply

I love seeing other engineers on here. If you re considering it, it s totally worth it! You ll definitely be successful
